If you ask me, I would like to wish all a very Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year.
This Christmas message is addressed to every single person on the planet and is a simple and honest wish for happiness and peace. It doesn’t matter what your religious persuasion is, or even if you have no religious beliefs, the simple statement “Merry Christmas” is NOT an insult or a sin, nor is it offensive or confrontational. It is simply a genuine and heart-felt desire for peace for all people. It may have it’s beginnings in the Christian faith but those words have grown beyond that religion and bare no ill will to anyone. Those words only carry, with them, a desire for peace and harmony.
If, however, you are from a different religion or cult and your beliefs teach that it is offencive to wish someone Merry Christmas, then I suggest that you re-evaluate your own life and the teachings of your cult. For how can wishing peace and happiness be a sin or offensive? If the teachings of your belief tell you that when someone wishes you well, but is from another religion or has no religion, it is a crime, then it is high time that you re-evaluated your beliefs. It is high time that you reformed your beliefs, just as many other religions and cults have reformed over the centuries.
Only when true tolerance, respect and understanding stands between all religions, all cults and all races, will we see peace on this earth. Only when each group tolerates the views, beliefs, cultures and traditions of each other can we hope for an end to war and suffering. You cannot expect other people to tolerate your views and beliefs if you do not tolerate theirs in turn. If you fail to respect beliefs and people, other than your own, then you must be prepared for the backlash that will come with your intolerance. As a prime example, for Islam to be respected, tolerated and allowed to exist, Islam MUST respect, tolerate and accept ALL other beliefs and religions. Tolerance must be reciprocal.
So, once again, to all of mankind whether you be Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Buddhist, atheist, agnostic or of any other belief or non-belief, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year!
Still working through the Christmas break – that’s real dedication.
Christmas is so divorced from its Christian origans that complaining about it is actually completely redundant. It is simply another way corporations get us to spend all our money on their stuff.
So to the people who are complaining that its offensive on the grounds that its a Christian holiday – Shut up already!
