If you ask me, one of the most important questions, facing Western nations today, is what to make of Islam? Or, to put it into other words, what is the truth about Islam? Is Islam truly a religion of peace, or is it an archaic and outdated leftover from the Middle Ages or even a dangerous autocratic and oppressive regime actively seeking world domination?
The citizens of the non-Muslim world are caught in the middle of this dilemma. They are trapped between a host of incompetent national leaders and the growing threat of terrorism. These citizens are being asked to tolerate a situation, where innocent men, women and children are being slaughtered in all sorts of barbarous ways on a regular basis, and, at the same time, are told not to blame Islam nor to denigrate the ideology of Islam. These people are repeatedly told that Islam is a religion of peace, but the record does not support this narrative. In the absence of competent and inspiring leadership, and in the face of continuing terrorist attacks, this is much easier said than done.
Many western leaders, such as Barack Obama, Angela Merkel, Malcolm Turnbull and many others, keep telling their people that most Muslims are moderate and peace-loving and that they should neither fear nor hate Muslims. However, at the same time, there are Muslim clerics, the world over, telling the world the exact opposite, that they will dominate the world and put all non-believers ‘to the sword’. Even the leaders of some Islamic nations are telling us that our leaders are wrong. Take for example Turkey’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan who once said “The term ‘moderate Islam’ is ugly and offensive; there is no moderate Islam; Islam is Islam.”
So what are we to believe? Can you really blame the average person for being suspicious of Islam, at the very least, or even to outright hate and denigrate the Islamic world?
“What is that you say? But not all Muslims are terrorists!”
Yes, that is true, but what does not help the debate is when our so-called leaders refuse to link terrorism and Islam in any way whatsoever. Further, our Noble Leaders are so blinkered by that anti-freedom disease, known as political correctness, that they are scared to address the problems that Islam represents for the free world. As the noted activist, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, said: “Of course the overwhelming majority of Muslims are not terrorists or sympathetic to terrorists. Equating all Muslims with terrorism is stupid and wrong. But acknowledging that there is a link between Islam and terror is appropriate and necessary.”

Quote by Ayaan Hirsi Ali that while not all Muslims are terrorists it is appropriate to know of the link between Islam and terrorism.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali was raised a Muslim and she is quite outspoken about her former religion. She is a strong advocate for reform within Islam and she warns the west not to underestimate the threat that an unchanged Islam represents. What a pity that the mainstream media do not give her airtime and that our politicians do not listen to her. However, if the media did give her airtime, then our pathetic leaders would have to explain themselves and their cowardly and inexcusable adherence to their politically-correct lies.
To hear more of what she says, the link below will take you to an excellent video that she has just released and I strongly urge everyone to watch this video. You should listen to what she has to say and then ask your leaders why they are not listening to people like her. Ask them why they prefer to hide behind their lies and their talk of appeasement. Finally, ask them how they will console the families and justify the casualties that are the direct result of their failure to address the real problems within Islam.
Most Western leaders, today, seem far more interested in appeasing the radicals and denying the facts about Islam and terrorism. They have chosen this approach in lieu of taking the hard and decisive action necessary to stop terrorism and aggression. Instead of fighting our enemies, who have made it absolutely clear that they have chosen to be our enemies, they prefer to fight their own people. They choose to ride roughshod over their own citizens, and anyone who utters a single word of disagreement with them, instead of doing their job and serving the nation.
As a result of this dereliction of duty, we, the citizens of the world, are seeing a piecemeal, reactionary approach to anti-terrorism liberally smothered in apologist dialogue. An old latin proverb says that ‘Fortune Favours the Brave’, and while we continue to elect cowards to run our countries, then fortune will favour our enemies. Is it any wonder that many, many people no longer believe our alleged leaders and have lost all faith in them? Is it any wonder that national cohesion is lacking throughout the Western World?
Is it little wonder that many non-Muslims are starting to align themselves with organisations and groups that oppose Islam, either through ideology or through direct action. Whether it is community groups opposed to the building of Mosques, or membership of anti-Islam vigilante groups, there are groups now forming to fill the void left by our truant leaders. When the people see the appalling lack of action by our governments, and a continued determination to increase Islamic immigration without any safeguards or guarantees for the preservation of life, liberty and freedom, of course emotions are going to run high.
Poorly regulated Islamic immigration is not of benefit to any nation, nor is it of benefit to those Muslims that do make the journey to a new land. When the natives of the new country are left with fears and suspicions, about the Muslims coming to their land, then this makes the integration of those newcomers so much more difficult and unlikely. It is time that our politicians accepted the fact that the poor response to Islamic immigration, that many Western societies now demonstrate, is in direct response to their own failures to lead and govern appropriately.
In any discussion of radical Islam, what must also be questioned is the fact that we almost never hear from Muslims who are opposed to the violence. We never seem to see ‘moderate’ Muslims, if such a thing does exist, who are actively opposed to the terrorists. The response, from ‘moderate’ Islam, seems to be a resounding silence every time there is an attack or atrocity committed in their name. I am damn sure that if some nutcase was running around murdering innocent people and claiming to represent me and my beliefs, I would be screaming, loud and clear, that he did NOT represent me or my beliefs.
However, this may not be the fault of the ‘moderate’ Muslims and, instead, it may be the fault of the media and our leaders. Just as the mainstream media never seems to present the views of people like Ayaan Hirsi Ali, they never seem to present the views of those Muslims who are opposed to radical Islam. As Ayaan Hirsi Ali says, in the video, the West shuns those Muslims who are calling for Islamic reform; as if they are outside the argument. It is as if they are just inconsequential zealots who should be ignored and precluded from the discussion. This attitude seems to be more in line with the wishes of the radical Muslims who, of course, would hope to suppress any progressive or reformative views. Precluding these people is not in line with finding a lasting solution to radicalisation for the good of both Muslims and non-Muslims.
So is Islam a religion of peace? Certainly not the Islam that has existed for the past 1400 years. Throughout all that time, Islam has been in an almost constant state of war with the non-Muslim world. If Islam is to truly progress, and become known as the religion of peace, then it is in need of a total rethink from within. It needs a reformation of the beliefs and aspirations of all Muslims and Islam needs to separate the church from the state, just as Christianity did hundreds of years ago. All of these changes are necessary but they can only come about when Muslims, themselves, are ready for it.
Till that time comes, it is the duty of the West to guard and protect against the evils of radicalisation and to smash terrorism wherever it is found. This is necessary to safeguard the people and the lifestyle of Western nations. It is also necessary to ensure that radical Islam does not overcome all of Islam until Muslims arrive at a time, and with the required mindset, to allow a reformation of the religion from within. Any Western leader that does not recognise this duty, is a traitor to his own nation and an accomplice to terror.
